Shteev's Quest: Ch 17 - Kodomo No Stephen
I spent more time looking for a good monster to catch, and settled with a Heracross. It was easily the more rare Pokemon roaming the earlier routes, so I decided to catch it. It was a pretty nerve-wracking experience, as I only had one chance, but after a Stun Spore bath and a few Scratch attacks, I reigned triumphant.
I named her Hera, after the Greek Goddess.
“Another bug...” I thought aloud, “But I guess beggars can't be choosers.”
That's when I heard a cry. Not a Pokemon cry, but an honest, human cry.
I looked around, trying to find the source, and eventually came across a girl, fairly young, holding her leg and wincing in a painful way. She had dark blonde hair and clothes that seemed inappropriate for Pokemon training...
“Are you alright?” I asked, kneeling down to see if she needed assistance.
That's when I saw a flash of light, followed by the stock sound of a cellphone's camera shutter.
“Got you, pervert!” another voice shouted f

After a good night's sleep, it's good to finally be saying these words.
“Well, I'm leaving.”
My family all wished me good luck, and with my backpack full to the brim with supplies, I was ready to leave.
The Rikan region's quite varied with it's terrain, but not so much so that it'll cause any traveling difficulties. Where I am now, it's lush and green. That'll continue straight into the heart of the region (where a body of water occupies) until you get to where I hear the last gym is, where it's a rocky mountain area. Shouldn't be too bad if I buy some boots near the end of the trip.
The Championship rules have me freaking out, though. I only have one Pokeball until I get to the first town, and by then, most other trainers will have probably dozens... I'll just have to train Paras more to compensate for the lack of monster variety.
Once again, the atmosphere is pristine, and it feels as if nature is welcoming me on my journey. At the same time, there's a whole bunch of trai

Well, here it is. The day has arrived.
I've got my best shirt on, a freshly ironed pair of khakis, and any trainer ID I could possibly need. It'll be one of the first times I've taken to a stage in quite a while... I'm kind of nervous, which is pretty standard, but it's still a bit of an inconvience.
I've been listening to some music to calm my nerves. I've been doing this for what seems like a lifetime, but it's a tense ordeal.
[Don't trip on stage]
[Don't do anything weird]
[Don't throw up]
[Stop throwing up]
Thoughts keep pouring into me, but it's kind of useless to dwell on them, it's time to go.
A massive stage, two gigantic speaker towers, each with more speakers budding from them, and enough seating to fill at least two or so thousand people... This is such a big deal, I can't believe I'm a part of it.
Before things get under way, I checked in the back to see how Hemlock was doing, but Gloria stopped me at his door. She informed me that he was “warming up” for the ce

I've got friends in a lot of regions. Each of them with their own stories to tell, and all of which have helped me get through my journeys one way or another. Whether it's moral support or otherwise, I'm definitely thankful for the ones I've accumulated along the way.
I was playing with Paras on my bed, counting down the hours until the opening ceremony, when the mushrooms on my monster's back started shaking. In a moment, my Ivysaur from an adventure a decade ago came through in through my door, and handed me my cellphone using it's vines.
My ringtone, blink-182's “All the Small Things”, was blaring as the phone shook with great importance. I looked at the caller and had an instant smile put on my face.
“SHTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVE!!!” The caller screeched, sharply reducing my defense.
Thankfully, I'm so used to this kind of introduction that I'd instinctively pulled the phone away from my ear mid-scream...
“Hi, Peanut. This w
